Sunrise Session// Now in Charlotte, NC Family Photographer

This is one my favorite sessions from 2012. I had been eyeing this random spot near our house to shoot at for months. It's right beside a railroad track and doesn't look like much but I knew from passing it in the mornings that it had to be gorgeous at sunrise. The Newell's were up for anything and that included a sunrise session! It was so worth it, the lights was gorgeous and they rocked it! Jack had a good time playing around and even let mom and dad get some awesome pictures alone. I couldn't have been more happy with the way this session turned out and hope to get to shoot here again next fall!

T Family+ Cake Smash// Now in Charlotte, NC + Fort Mill, SC Children Photographer

This is one of my favorite family sessions to date! Jessica showed up with some amazing cake smash props and sweet Bailey was a trooper! We took advantage of the sunset after the shoot and ran over to the golf course by my house and snapped a few more silhouettes, which I love! Enjoy the sweetness.. you'll be seeing more of these cuties when I post their family/cousin session on the blog in the near future.

What to Wear Tips

1. Keeping your location and season in mind, start with one person.  Don’t try and think of everyone at the same time.  I find that mom or a little girl makes the most sense since they would typically be the ones wearing a print.  So mom will be wearing a floral print dress (small pretty pattern that is).
2. Now move on to the next person.  You will be pulling colors from mom’s dress so begin to think about who in the family would look good in what colors.  Dad doesn’t look so good in XYZ since it tends to drown out the tone in his skin.  Let’s pick ABC for him instead.  And so on.
3. Then start to come up with ideas to personalize the session.  A little boy may have a security blanket or teddy bear he never parts with…. be sure to bring that with you.  The little girl may like crafting so have her make a cute matching headband or clip for her hair.  Mom loves tulips… on your way to the session pick some up.  Make thoughtful choices and be sure to discuss the ideas with your photographer!  Believe me, most are full of ideas however, it’s always nice when the family helps and truly ensures a “custom” session.
